Niko Seed is a nonprofit organization committed to sustainable socioeconomic development in Burundi.
It works to create jobs, empower young people and women, and develop sustainable agricultural value chains.
Niko Seed brings together three complementary organizations:
Together, they are working to transform agriculture into a concrete driver of development.
Niko Seed's operations are based on an integrated value chain structured around three complementary components:
This integrated approach helps maximize economic, social, and environmental impact.
Sustainable Production
Process Locally
Market Effectively
The transition from informal to formal and from artisanal to industrial production illustrates Niko Green’s evolution. Thanks to financial support from SNV through the PADANE project, Niko Green has acquired specialized equipment to produce passion fruit juice, thereby modernizing its operations and strengthening its contribution to sustainable agriculture and local economic growth.
As part of its commitment to supporting sustainable agricultural development in Burundi, the Segal Family Foundation provided funding to NIKO SEED. This support has helped create concrete opportunities for young people involved in passion fruit production within the COPAD cooperative. In addition to contributing directly to sustainable agriculture, the foundation supports NIKO SEED’s initiatives aimed at promoting projects designed by and for young people, thereby strengthening their commitment and autonomy.

The stories that inspire our mission
My name is Francine Nibigira. I took the training courses in food processing techniques organized by SOPATRAM. Today, I’ve mastered the entire process of making passion fruit, pineapple, and hibiscus juices, among others, and I also know the mixing ratios for making blended juices. Ever since I learned how to make fortified porridge flour through these training sessions, I’ve felt ready to join the fight against malnutrition, which is rampant in our neighborhoods…
Francine Nibigira
Every morning, I felt a heavy weight on my shoulders. I had just given birth to my daughter Gaëlla, and life felt like it was suffocating me. My nights had turned into a nightmare, and I feared I wouldn’t live to see the next dawn. The early hours of the day always began with a sense of despair. I had confused my grave with my reason for living, until I met Ms. Claudette Nduwayezu, …who was, to me, the Good Samaritan.
